Zinc Oxide is a mineral UV filter providing broad protection across both UVA and UVB wavelengths.
Colorescience uses its patented mineral-filter technology to achieve SPF 50 and PA++++ while maintaining a more transparent finish than conventional opaque Zinc Oxide sunscreens.
For Chris & Alley, I would use “100% mineral sunscreen actives” rather than the manufacturer’s occasional “chemical-free” wording. All ingredients are chemicals in the scientific sense; what matters here is that the UV-filter active is mineral Zinc Oxide rather than an organic UV filter.

The brand describes EnviroScreen® as combining patented mineral sunscreen actives with specialised antioxidants and protective ingredients to address not only UVA and UVB exposure but also pollution, visible blue/HEV light and infrared-related environmental stress.
Rather than one individual ingredient, EnviroScreen® is the broader formulation technology.
Iron Oxides
The current formula contains:
CI 77491 + CI 77492 + CI 77499
These create Body Shield Classic’s subtle universal tint.
Iron Oxides are particularly relevant to clients concerned about pigmentation because tinted pigments can provide additional protection against visible light, while also helping mask the natural white appearance of mineral Zinc Oxide.
The tint blends sheer rather than functioning as conventional body makeup.
Apple Fruit Extract
Listed as Pyrus Malus Fruit Extract.
Colorescience highlights Apple Fruit Extract as part of the product’s moisturising system.
It contributes humectant and skin-conditioning support, helping the sunscreen feel more comfortable during everyday body wear.
Glycerin
A classic humectant that attracts water into the outer skin layers and helps maintain hydration.
Together with Apple Extract and Jojoba Esters, it contributes to the product’s ability to function as both sunscreen and daily moisturising body care.
Jojoba Esters
Skin-conditioning emollients that help improve softness and flexibility without creating an excessively greasy finish.
Colorescience specifically includes Jojoba Esters among the ingredients that make separate body moisturisation unnecessary for many users.
Physalis Angulata Extract
A botanical antioxidant ingredient often used in environmental-protection formulas for its soothing and antioxidant properties.
Within the EnviroScreen® system, it complements the formula’s protection strategy against environmental and infrared-related oxidative stress.
Dimethylmethoxy Chromanol
A powerful antioxidant commonly known through the Lipochroman® technology platform.
It helps neutralise reactive oxidative species generated by environmental exposure.
This ingredient does not replace sunscreen; it provides complementary antioxidant support around the mineral filter system.
Bisabolol
A soothing ingredient that helps support skin comfort.
Its inclusion is particularly useful in a body sunscreen intended for daily use and sensitive skin.
Vitamin E / Tocopherol
Provides additional lipid-soluble antioxidant and skin-conditioning support.

Apply liberally and evenly 15 minutes before sun exposure.
Cover all exposed body areas thoroughly, including:
Shoulders
Arms
Hands
Chest and décolleté
Legs
Feet
Back where exposed
Allow each layer to dry for approximately 1–2 minutes before dressing or adding additional product.
Reapply at least every two hours, and sooner after:
Swimming
Heavy sweating
Towel drying
Prolonged outdoor activity
The formula is water- and sweat-resistant for 80 minutes, but this does not eliminate the need for reapplication.
