The current 2026 formula contains a sophisticated combination of filters rather than relying on a single sunscreen active.
Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane / Avobenzone
A dedicated UVA filter, particularly important for protection against longer UVA wavelengths associated with photoageing and pigmentation.
Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine / Tinosorb S
A highly photostable broad-spectrum filter that provides both UVA and UVB protection.
Ethylhexyl Triazone / Uvinul T 150
A highly efficient and photostable UVB filter.
Ethylhexyl Salicylate / Octisalate
Provides complementary UVB protection and contributes to the overall SPF system.
Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonic Acid / Ensulizole
A water-soluble sunscreen filter providing predominantly UVB protection.
Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone
A highly photostable filter providing strong UVB with complementary UVA support.
Titanium Dioxide
A mineral UV filter included alongside the organic filter system.
Together, this makes PRO SHIELD a multi-filter sunscreen, not a mineral-only SPF.
Film-Forming System
pHformula makes the film-forming component an important part of PRO SHIELD’s current positioning.
Ingredients including Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein/PVP Crosspolymer, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6 and Dimethicone-based polymers help create a more uniform layer across the skin.
The goal is improved:
Coverage + adherence + comfortable wear.
pHformula specifically states that the film-forming system helps create a uniform surface shield while retaining a breathable, non-greasy finish.
Vitamin E / Tocopheryl Acetate + Tocopherol
Provides complementary antioxidant and skin-conditioning support.
These ingredients do not replace UV filters but help support the formula against oxidative stress.
Vitamin C Derivatives
The current INCI contains both:
Ascorbyl Palmitate + Ascorbic Acid
in supporting amounts.
They provide complementary antioxidant support but PRO SHIELD should not be marketed as a Vitamin C treatment sunscreen.
Silica
Helps improve the lightweight sensory profile and contributes to a more refined, less greasy skin finish.
Butylene Glycol
A humectant and skin-conditioning ingredient that helps support moisture and comfortable wear.

Apply every morning as the final step of the skincare routine.

pHformula specifies an application quantity of approximately 2mg/cm² for optimal labelled protection.
Allow the sunscreen to absorb before sun exposure.
Reapply approximately every 2–3 hours, particularly during prolonged outdoor exposure.
Reapply sooner where the sunscreen layer may have been disturbed by significant sweating, swimming or towelling, even though pHformula does not currently publish a defined water-resistance claim for PRO SHIELD.
