ASPA-Fernblock®+ / Fernblock technology
Cantabria Labs’ current international formula positioning now highlights ASPA-Fernblock®+, its newer photoprotection technology combining its established fern-derived Polypodium leucotomos technology with ASPA/Rooibos-related antioxidant support.
It is used to complement the sunscreen filters through antioxidant and cellular-stress support.
For Chris & Alley, I would avoid wording such as:
“Repairs damaged DNA completely.”
A better formulation is:
“Provides antioxidant support and helps support the skin’s natural repair mechanisms following UV exposure.”
Important: the current South African published INCI still contains Polypodium Leucotomos but does not list Aspalathus Linearis, so check your physical stock before calling the local formula ASPA-Fernblock®+.
Glycosylase
Cantabria Labs currently lists Glycosylase as one of the formula’s repair-support technologies.
It is best positioned as helping support the skin’s natural repair processes following solar exposure, rather than as a guarantee that UV damage is reversed.
Physavie / Physalis Angulata Extract
A botanical antioxidant and soothing ingredient used within Heliocare’s broader environmental and infrared-stress strategy.
The current South African INCI explicitly contains Physalis Angulata Extract.
OTZ 10 / Oxothiazolidine
An antioxidant technology represented in the INCI by Oxothiazolidine.
It provides complementary defence against oxidative stress generated during solar exposure.
Biomimetic Melanin
The current formula contains Melanin, which forms part of Heliocare’s broader visible-light defence strategy.
It complements the UV-filter system rather than replacing it.
Green Tea Extract
Listed as Camellia Sinensis Extract.
Green Tea provides antioxidant and soothing support and complements the wider Heliocare photoprotection system.
3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid
A stable Vitamin C derivative providing complementary antioxidant support.
This is more accurate than simply calling the product an “Ascorbic Acid sunscreen”, because the current formula uses 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid.
Vitamin E
Tocopheryl Acetate and Tocopherol provide additional lipid-soluble antioxidant support.
Ferulic Acid + Caffeic Acid
Complementary plant-derived antioxidant compounds that help reinforce protection against oxidative stress.
Phytosphingosine
A skin-conditioning lipid-like component that supports barrier comfort and resilience.
Advanced UV Filter System
The current South African formula combines both organic and mineral UV filters.
Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonic Acid
Primarily UVB protection.
Disodium Phenyl Dibenzimidazole Tetrasulfonate
Provides additional UVA-supporting protection.
Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine / Tinosorb S
Highly photostable broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection.

This is therefore a hybrid sunscreen, not a mineral-only formula.

Shake well before use.
Apply generously and evenly as the final step of your morning skincare routine, before makeup.
Cantabria Labs currently recommends the two-finger rule for the face, ears and neck — approximately the quantity required to achieve the tested 2mg/cm² sunscreen application level.
Reapply approximately every two hours during ongoing exposure, and sooner after:
Swimming
Heavy sweating
Towel drying
Extended outdoor exposure
Using too little product substantially reduces the protection achieved.
